Lived in RGH for awhile then moved into Blackhawk Village just after they constructed it. Swam in the RGH pool often. A few memories stand out when it concerns RGH:

1. Always had to bring cleaning stuff for the school bus rides to Yongsan because of frequent riots and tear gas exposure.

2. Not all trick-or-treaters were dependents during Halloween - the locals figured it out and their kids joined in.

3. Cordele Lamb was a true dumbass - going to the roof of a business to suck the air out of the advertisement balloon thinking it was helium then lighting a cigarette will never be forgotten. I bet he still has the scars and wonder if his eyebrows ever grew back.

Did you know that Blackhawk Village is open to the public? https://parkyongsan.kr/front/lodging/lodging04.do

The photographer of BTS and Beatles, MJ Kim, helped to make it popular amongst teenagers to go take photos.

First tour as a brat in the ROK was from mid to late 70's (performed traditional Korean folk dancing in tournaments in Seoul as a child) then returned in mid 80's after a few years at Bragg and a year at Ord. Used to work in the Yongsan garrison library during the summer, provided tours for Americans visiting for the '88 Olympics, graduated from SAHS couple years later, and was stationed at K-16 airbase while in the Army - haven't returned since '93. Hoping to return in the future to show my kids where I used to live and cause trouble. 🤣🤣🤣

Wow! YOU are Yongsan Garrison history! 😄

Yeah... Bart has a great video about the fairly recent status of Yongsan Garrison. He got in touch with us to get USFK’s permission to film inside the Garrison. To my knowledge, no one had ever been given permission to do so. But then... you can find all kinds of videos and photos on the internet.

You should definitely plan a trip to Seoul after 33 years! Seoul will be a completely different place now... Be prepared for some serious time-travel whiplash!
